The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is a federal agency under the executive branch responsible for:
• drafting national policy and legal regulation in the study, regeneration and conservation of natural resources, including mineral deposits, water resources, protected forestland, wildlife and natural wildlife habitats (excluding hunting zones)
• operation, maintenance and security of water reservoirs, general water supply networks and hydraulic facilities (excluding navigable hydraulic facilities)
• safe development of mineral deposits, industrial safety and nuclear energy production safety(excluding military and security applications)
• the safety of electricity and thermal energy facilities, (excluding household appliances and networks)
• safe production, storage and use of industrial explosives
• hydrometeorology and related sector safety and environmental monitoring
• drafting and implementing national policy and legal regulation for environmental protection, including protected nature reserves and areas, and environmental inspection.
