The Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare is a federal body of executive authority responsible for control and supervision in the sphere of sanitary and epidemiological safety, protection of consumer rights and consumer market. 

The Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare has the following functions:
• state sanitary and epidemiological supervision over compliance with sanitary legislation;
• state control of compliance with consumer rights legislation;
• control of compliance with trade regulations applying to specific products and services stipulated by law;
• quarantine control at checkpoints on the Russian border.
