The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) is a federal body of executive authority established to ensure legal protection of state interests in the economic and civil law circulation of military, special and dual-purpose research and design and technological products created with federal budget allocations. It is also responsible for control and supervision in this sphere of activity regarding state contractors and organisations fulfilling state contracts that stipulate research, design and technological work, as well as state services in the sphere of legal protection of inventions, utility models, industrial prototypes, computer software, databases and topology of integrated circuits. This includes those that are part of an integral technology, trademarks, service marks, appellations of origin of goods and legal regulation of issues pertaining to control, supervision and provision of state services in this sphere of activity.
